The safety profiles of biotherapeutics are becoming increasingly important for healthcare professionals, patients, and drug developers. Post-marketing reports are an important source to evaluate potential safety outcomes. Standard intravenous immunoglobulins are used in pediatric practice for both approved and off-label indications. Most adverse effects associated with intravenous immunoglobulins in children are mild and transient. Clinical assessment of risk factors and detection of non-IgE-mediated reactions can be improved. A low rate of drug administration, monitoring of renal function in cases of polypharmacy, observation of the patient during and after infusion should be used to reduce the risk of adverse reactions and diagnose them as soon as possible. |
