Character of distribution of class II HLA antigens in syphilis patients with obvious clinical manifestations

Chermnykh T.V., Koshkin S.V., Zaitseva G.A.

Antigens of class II HLA were identified in 40 syphilis patients with obvious clinical manifestations. It was revealed that HLA-DRB1*08 and HLA-DRB1*09 as well as combinations of HLA-B7/DRB1*08 and HLA-B5/DRB1*09 were registered more often. Alleles HLA-DRB1*01 and HLA-DRB1*15 were registered less often. Peculiarities of gender distribution of antigens were noted. The findings showed that alleles DRB1*08, 09 were “provocative genes” that predispose to the development of obvious manifestations in case of syphilis. Illustrations are provided.
